who is this significant, symbolic figure? it's modeled after a very old Rondanini style Medusa, which is a more mild representation of the snake-filled hair

Medusa's face is crafted in shell and does have some fading/wear to the facial features

this is a conversion ring made long by combining a filigree setting and a pin and it has plenty of wear to prove it

ring's opening is oval from having been sized up as much as possible, and so it doesn't sit flush on the mandrel. it fits like a size 8 and can easily be sized down, but cannot be sized up any further.

in good upcycled vintage condition

the most significant wear is to the nose/mouth area of the face, which looks like it was at the hands of a polishing wheel long ago — oops! luckily, a huge part of this piece's wonderment is the intricate details of the gold hair/snakes and wings

band has a noticeable sizing area/seams and cannot be sized up further, but could easily be sized down

markings were lost to time/sizings

diamond is in good condition

deep, dark patina in the recessed areas of the undergallery
